The two 1/1s, 𝙏𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙮 and 𝘼𝙣 𝙄𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙈𝙖𝙣, take the viewers through 3D spatial collage animations of courtrooms; one depicting a theatrical sequence of a high profile case where the guilty is acquitted, the other depicting a quieter scene where the innocent is convicted. The open edition, 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙋𝙪𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙘 𝙊𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙤𝙣, depicts the aftermath of the two through the public’s perception.
The pieces are intended as a triptych, each scene has a relationship to the other. And a relationship between art and viewer emerges with the challenging choice made between collecting each one. Do you resonate with the flashy theatrical one knowing full well the guilty walks free? Do you respond to the quiet, more mundane one knowing the innocent is unjustly sentenced? Or are you here for public consumption, the court of public opinion, and the performance of it all? Choose wisely, which one you collect may reveal more than you wish to realize.
The collection of works are part of my ongoing DeepCuts series, 3d collages with depth inspired by songs. The inspiration behind this triptych is loosely influenced by Pink Floyd’s “The Trial”.

The jury is now in session.
You’re summoned to take part in a high profile, highly publicized trial fit for public appeal and widespread news consumption. Another trial of the century. Everything reeks of bribery, theater, fanfare and all evidence points toward guilt. But she lined pockets of silver tongued lawyers who can influence and manipulate the jury at hand. The courtroom chaos is blinding like a shiny lure in front of a big mouthed bass. A caricature of a corrupt judicial system where the guilty is set free as the verdict comes through. The prosecution never stood a chance against the defendant’s deep pockets and connections.

As jurors you are not to be swayed by sympathy.
But does law and humanity ever clash? You are witness to the quiet, more realistic and understated everyday trials that are a dime a dozen and never get publicized. Cases where the odds are stacked against the indicted and public defenders, even though the facts point towards innocence. A man’s future lies in your hands. A realistic yet tense moment where the accused sees no public help or widespread appeal. An innocent man convicted as guilty. Sometimes society gets it wrong.

Outside the courthouse steps, the guilty walks free and the innocent is carted away as we see the aftermath of two verdicts through the public's perception. Not bound by facts presented indoors but instead governed by gut emotion, the collective response to sentencing explodes. The uproars, the exhalations, the influence of universal support or shared dismay. Everyone has their opinion and aren’t afraid to show it.
This is the true jury of your peers.
