Valentine's Day evokes mixed sentiments- for some, it's a day of love, for others, it's approached with dread. This series introduces a touch of dark humor to the holiday, recognizing the inherent connection between love and death. The narratives present a blend of humor and implausible scenarios, offering a unique perspective on the complexities of love surrounding this polarizing holiday.

The origin story is violent for a holiday dedicated to love. Valentine performed marriages in secret, an act of love that ultimately led to execution. In these works I explore the darker side of this day: jealousy and crimes of passion. This narrative serves as a channel to reconcile with the profound impact of cruelty in the name of love. - Rebecca

Each motion work is comprised of 200 individually collaged assets.
A mix of found and generated imagery is manipulated by hand then placed spatially with depth between the layers to create the 3D build.
Scale and perspective are played with to achieve contrast between prominent elements, characters, and mise-en-scene.
Cameras are placed throughout the scene to guide the viewer through the narrative.

Each 3D glb sculpture is comprised of individually collaged images positioned with depth between the layers.
The glb nature of these works allow guests to transcend the role of viewer to participant, by stepping into the story and freely exploring in VR as a walk-through digital art installation.
The scenes are encompassed by a polished shell, signed on the reverse.
